XAudio2 will be the doorway to adding more sounds (a lot more, everywhere), more mechanical components can be modeled and all this with greater fidelity with proper surround sound. It allows us to build our own efficient DSP effects, so the sound will actively interact with the environment not just an off the shelf reverb/echo effect. That's just the beginning - not a hype statement - for real! Grant and David Tucker are onto this. David is like an audio DSP mad scientist. I can't wait!
